If you were in my office, you’d … be surprised at how messy it is.

When I was a newbie lawyer I … once went to ex parte at the wrong court—the judge granted my motion before the clerk could interject. I had to make another trip the next day to the correct county courthouse, where the judge also granted my motion.

If I weren’t a lawyer, I’d be … a psychologist involved in behavioral economics, like Daniel Kahneman.

I almost quit the law because … I don’t get fed fancy lunches every day.

The SCOTUS decision I’d most like to overturn is … Citizens United v. FEC

A different practice area that intrigues me is … tax law. It follows you to your death.

My favorite Twitter feed is … @existentialcoms. Philosophy made funny.

I can’t believe more people haven’t read … José Saramago. Blindness is a good one to try if you haven’t read his novels.

My favorite TED talk is ... Roman Mars’ “Why city flags may be the worst designed thing you’ve never noticed.”

My favorite meal is ... Korean BBQ.

I get angry when … I haven’t eaten enough all day (otherwise known as hangry).

If I had a time machine, I would ... go back and buy bitcoins in 2010 and sell some in early December 2017.

My guilty pleasure is … binge-watching shows on Netflix while simultaneously reading the spoilers on my phone.

The last TV show I binge-watched was … The Crown. I couldn’t help Googling the events depicted for historical accuracy. Or inaccuracy.

Nothing cheers me up like … ice cream. My go-to flavor is Salt & Straw’s almond brittle.

If I won the lottery I’d … buy places in Tokyo, Sydney, Lisbon and Berlin.

My favorite podcast is ... “99% Invisible.”

My favorite news source is ... The Economist. Love the writing style.

The app I use the most is ... Weather Underground. I like to be prepared.

Living or dead, I would most like to have a drink with ... Franz Kafka.

I collect ... Mr. Men and Little Miss books by Roger Hargreaves—reminiscent of my childhood.

The question I’m tired of answering is ... It’s a tie between “Are you a law student?” and “Where are you from?”—in which the questioner is inquiring about my ethnicity and assumes I’m not from this country. Ask a better question. Or better yet, why not stop asking that question?
